Unit 3a Great People - Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was the most talented person who ever lived. He was born in Italy in 1452. He was very intelligent and curious and learnt lots of things by himself. 

Da Vinci was a great engineer. He designed many working machines for war, industry, and transport. He sketched very accurate maps, designed a brilliant canal system and a huge bridge.



Leonardo da Vinci was also an inventor. His inventions include a sort of helicopter, flying machines, a calculator, a parachute and even robots.


Leonardo da Vinci was a great painter. Two of his paintings, the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, are the most famous paintings of all time.


Leonardo da Vinci was a scientist. He studied plants, animals and the human body, and made detailed drawings and notes about them.


He used "mirror" writing!
